BOULDER, Colo. -- The owner of an Asian antique store in Boulder is pleading for the return of the head of his Buddha statue.
Hugo Brooks owns Indochine Home Imports at 2525 Arapahoe Ave. On Tuesday morning he found that the 800-pound Buddha statue outside his store had been tipped over and the head was missing.
"The Buddha symbolizes unity, peace, generosity and to defile that image is a pretty desperate and outrageous thing to do," Brooks said.
Brooks said it appears the vandal wanted to take the entire stone statue, but only got away with the head. Brooks filed a police report, but he said he just wants the head returned.
